I work as a painter and sculptor, drawing from sustained observation of the natural world and the environments I move through every day, to better understand nature as a source of knowledge and as a rhizomatic catalyst for human creativity.

My practice is rooted in attention to the intelligence of ecosystems—how forms develop, how materials behave, how living things coexist and adapt. Nature is not a metaphor in my work; it is an active presence, a source of maximalist structure, material, and inquiry. I study the physical forms and behaviors of organic life—the interdependence of flora and fauna, the simultaneity of growth and decay, and the subtle conversations between soil, roots, insects, and air—and I incorporate materials such as rocks, leaves, and fur directly into my surfaces. The work develops through an ongoing dialogue between observation and making, allowing material behavior to guide formal decisions.

Growing up in the hills of Los Angeles shaped how I understand landscape—not as a distant or idealized place, but as something lived and layered, where urban life and complex ecosystems exist side by side. That early awareness continues to inform my work, as I look closely at both the visible and less obvious forms of life that inhabit familiar places, connecting memory, material, and place through the act of making. I describe my work as narrative, abstracted representation. My paintings are influenced by Post-Impressionist and Expressionist movements, as well as many contemporary artists.

Alongside my studio practice, my engagement with teaching has sharpened how I think about looking, making, and material intelligence. That dialogue between practice and pedagogy keeps my work grounded, curious, and responsive—anchored in the physical act of making and the ongoing study of the natural world. I hold multiple degrees in fine art and education and for 25 years maintained a parallel career working with underrepresented populations as a credentialed mentor arts educator teaching Studio Arts as well as Art History and Criticism. Lives and works in California.
